Henry Sussman is Retired Visiting Professor of Germanic Languages and Literatures at Yale University. He holds a PhD in Comparative Literature awarded by Johns Hopkins University in 1975. He has published and edited several volumes, including The Aesthetic Contract: Statutes of Art and Intellectual Work in Modernity (Stanford: Stanford University Press, 1997), The Task of the Critic: Poetics, Philosophy, and Religion (New York: Fordham University Press, 2005),Around the Book: Systems and Literacy (New York: Fordham University Press, 2011), Acts of Narrative, co-edited with Carol Jacobs (Stanford: Stanford University Press, 2003). His most recent book is Playful Intelligence: Digitizing Tradition, published by Bloomsbury in 2014.
